Child molester personality

A child molester is described as an older person, male or female, which experiences any type of sexual act with another person who is a child. The majority of child molesters, more than 95 percent, are male.

Molesters engage in sex with children for a variety of reasons and sometimes these reasons have little to do with sexual desires. This type of offender, called a situational child molester, does not possess a genuine sexual preference for children. Rather, the motivational factors are criminal in nature. In some cases, the offender’s sexual abuse of young people is a natural outgrowth of other forms of abuse in his life. That abuse is a continuation of a process by which he has mistreated his friends, colleagues, spouse and family members. He will have low self-esteem, maintain poor moral standards and view sex with children as an opportunity to prolong the violence that is already an active component of his existence. Other situational offenders see children as a substitute for an adult partner. Although these types of offenders do not harbor a singular sexual desire for children, they may react to a built up sexual impulse or anger, that to them, is irresistible. However, the victim is incidental. It could have been a store clerk, an elderly person or simply a woman walking down a lonely street. Because of the circumstances at hand, such as the Polly Klass incident, the victim happened to be a child. His main criteria for a victim is availability. The situational child molester will usually have few victims, sometimes only one, and never repeat the event again. He could be a social misfit or a psychopathic personality who harbors a seething resentment and hostility toward society in general.
The second classification of sexual offender is defined as a preferential child molester. These offenders have a sexual preference for children and usually maintain these desires throughout their lives. Preferential child molesters can have an astounding number of victims and these crimes can remain undiscovered for many years. In 1995, a child molestation case in Texas caused a national uproar when the suspect was due to be released from prison after serving a six-year sentence for the rape of a 6year-old boy. He told the police that he got away with abusing over 240 children before getting caught for molesting a single child and if released, would do it again(4). One long-term study of hundreds of sex offenders found that the pedophile child molester committed an average of 281 acts with 150 partners. These types of offenders wreak havoc upon society far out of proportion to their numbers.
The preferential child molester exhibits distinct patterns of behavior that are common among his kind. They will seduce children by buying gifts and appealing to their emotional weakness. This requires the offender to develop a friendship with the child or utilize an existing relationship with the victim. In more than 90 percent of the rapes of children less than 12 years old, the offender knew the victim (U.S. Department of Justice). Other offenders will engage in self-exposure or personally harass children. Simply stated, the preferential child molester is a pedophile who has carried his fantasies and desires into reality. A small minority of these types of offenders may be sadistic in nature and inflict pain or torture upon their victims. These individuals, like any other criminal, can be brutal and sadistic.

Antonio Toscano and Maddie's affair

Mr. António Toscano most acclaimed case: The “paedophile network” of Bar Arny, in Valencia, 1996

The “investigative journalist” and expert in “missing children” that claimed a rate of success of 93,4 per cent (14 cases solved in a total of 15...) gave a interview to Virginia Lopez (*), from the Spanish daily “El Mundo”, last week. Mr Toscano revealed to the journalist that the description of the main suspect, issued to the Press by Polícia Judiciária on May 25, “had a name ans surname” and he knew that man. “According to his investigation, the suspected abductor of Madeleine, seen in the city of Seville, one week before her disappearance, told that he was going to Algarve, to visit some friends”, wrote “El Mundo”.

The alleged abductor and the witness that saw him in Seville (apparently, also the source of Mr. Antonio Toscano) “meet when they were both regular clients of Bar Arny (or Arnie)– the operational base of a network of child prostitution, uncovered in 1995. “A few well known people were accused" of being part of the network “but nobody went to jail”, writes “El Mundo”.
Mr Toscano claimed to have uncovered that pedophile network. But nobody went to jail “because most witnesses, including nº 1 witness, retracted from their accusations, and almost all of the 48 men accused were acquitted”, according to on line edition of ABC Spanish newspaper.” On 2005, The main witness, Mr. José António B, was sentenced to 15 years of jail, for the murder of a 72 years old man, who hired him to have sexual relations”. According to the same source.

Mr. António Toscano took the case to the Spanish Police, after he was threatened and beaten by members of the pedophile network. The case was dismissed, by courts in the cities of Valencia and Castelló, as groundless, and whitout evidence to support it. Mr Toscano didn't give up and appealed to Spanish Supreme Court, “Audiência Nacional”. On March 4, 2005, Spanish Supreme Court rejected the appeal, based on a report of Policía Judicial (Spanish CID) of Castelló, who had investigated the complains about the existence of a child prostitution ring that “was responsible for kidnapings and murders of children”, denounced by António Toscano. “The Police investigation dind't found any evidence of the existence of any organized network of that kind” considered the Spanish Supreme Court, according to a newspaer of Valencia, “Levante – El Mercantil Valenciano”.

On the 4th March 1998, after lunch Rui Pedro took his bicycle and, around 2 o'clock p.m he went to his mother's office, which is in front of their house, to ask her for permission to go on a drive with a 22 year-old "friend" named Afonso. His mother refused and told him to play with his bicycle in an uncultivated ground, just behind her office (this ground isn't a passage path and sometimes horse race took place there). In the afternoon, around 5 p.m, Rui Pedro's private teacher phoned his parents because he was feeling surprised by Rui’s delay (this was not normal). Immediately his parents started to look for him. During their search, they found out that a neighbour had found his bicycle around 3 p.m. It was hidden in the wood in that horse track where Rui Pedro was seen riding his bicycle. As Rui Pedro had set a meeting with Afonso, we tried to find out about Afonso's stopping-place. Later on Afonso was found and he was asked if he had seen Rui Pedro. Afonso replied "no" in a very calm way. Later we knew that this man was seen in the same place talking to Rui Pedro. This man was in a black Fiat Uno, which was of his brother. Now, it was in this very same place where the bicycle was found. Strangely Afonso's brother borrowed him his car, so he would do the regular car's check-up, but later on we found out in his testemony that this wasn't true. Afonso just drove around incertain places and with no definite destiny.
On that day, GNR (our local police) inquired him and helped us on the search. They witnessed when the child's grandfather (my father) desperately asked Afonso where Rui Pedro was. My father offered him anything he wanted just for the answer. But Afonso replied crying that he didn't know anything but if we did want to find Rui Pedro the frontiers should be closed, as Rui Pedro could be far away, abroad. And soon, confronted by a witness -André, Rui Pedro's cousin- who told the conversation that Afonso had with him and with my godson. Afonso had stopping him from talking. Afonso has thretened him. Even so André told us that Afonso had invited them to go (in is car) to the prostitutes and the meeting-point would be in "Quinta da Costilha". He also told Afonso that he had missed the appointment because his mother didn't allow him to leave home. Meanwhile, and during the night we phoned everyone and everywhere. Together, the family joined with the GNR (who took trained dogs), the Firemen and the people of Lousada searched the village looking for Rui Pedro. During the dawn, I went to the Police Headquarters asking for help, because everything was telling us that Rui Pedro was kidnapped and I was told that the Police couldn't do anything. They told me that I would have to ask the judicial district judge to get in touch with the local authorities so we could find out what type of crime this was and only the judge could consider this a kidnapping and only in this case they could interfere. I explained what had happened and implored them to come and act as soon as possible, because on the following day it could be too late. We continued the search and on the next day after the court's Judge's approval to have the police´s intervention. During the afternoon many policemen of "Polícia Judiciária" came to the village. On the following days we looked together in the wood, in the neighbourhood, springs, lakes, etc..., hoping that Rui Pedro had fallen somewhere. Never, until today, they took into consideration that Rui Pedro had been kidnapped! However, we received thousands of phone calls, in which people would say that they had captured Rui Pedro or that they would know where Rui Pedro was. We even were asked for a randsom. We also got a phone call in which a child only could call for the mother and the connection was cut. The telephone was taken away from the child. Then, the very same person hanged up. None of these phone calls were traced, even though, the judge has ordered that our phones should be under surveillance, as our lingered laws demand.
And everytime we asked them if they had followed any clue, they would ask us how could they have done it, if they even hadn't heard these people, nothing could be done in order to know who was calling, as we answered that there are ways to do it, they told us that it was only in the movies.
How can we expect such an answer, if the present situation is real?! How can we understand that the Police Officer answer us that he doesn't have the slightest idea where Rui Pedro might be?!
Revolted with all this bureaucracy, negligence and lack of ways with which we deal in a case of a child's kinappind. And it is also revolting the reason why I am complaining, even though I don't fell I have the right to say that I am demaged, because my pain is so small compared with the one that this child is going through.
